Bullying Has No Grace; But Forgiveness Does!

Bullying has no grace I have a great deal of personal experience when it comes to bullying. You see, I was bullied for eight consecutive years, while attending a Catholic grade school. There were only 38 children in my class, so I was an easy target. Because of my physical deformity of clubbed feet, I wore braces on my legs. This set me apart from the others, making me the “outcast.” (The photo to the left was taken in 1962, at age 5). After what I experienced, it is amazing that I am still alive to tell my story today.

from-grief-to-grace I have to admit that I chose to read From Grief to Grace: The Journey from Tragedy to Triumph, by Jeannie Ewing, because I personally know the author and wanted to support her writing. Little did I know when I opened the first page, just how much I needed to read this book for my own benefit! Like many, I associated grief only with death. No one in my life had recently died. Grace Abounds!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to spend the day with some fantastic young people from The Diocese of Charlotte’s Catholic Campus Ministry Group. These students represent the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s 49er’s and Wingate University’s Bulldogs. More importantly, they represent the light of Christ! Here I am standing with them after the presentation, along with Father Benjamin Roberts and Linda Stedje-Larsen. Look at all of those smiles. They shine so brightly. I was blessed to be in their presence.
