Journey to the Cross – Book Review

Journey to the Cross I recently attended the National Marketing Network Trade Show / Catholic Writers Guild Conference in Chicago this summer. At the tradeshow/conference, we Guild members got to meet many authors and receive free autographed books! I had a great time. Yet, the most memorable moment for me occurred as I traversed through the Trade Show booths.  I came across a table with a certain children’s book on it: Journey to the Cross. I said to myself, “Hey, that’s the book that won in my category at the National Indie Excellence Awards contest this year!” Okay, now Continue reading

If you are looking for ways to make this world a better place, then start by reading this book. Change comes from within. We need to look at ourselves first, before pointing the finger at others.

Dying for Revenge: Book Review

Dying for Revenge Wow! Oh, wow! Dying for Revenge, the debut novel by Barbara Golder is fantastic! Talk about page-turners! Barbara Golder had me hooked from page one. The characters are deep and riveting, to the point where you won’t truly understand the depth of each character until you read the last page of the book. And don’t skip a word! Everything within the storyline is important – very well laid out.

The lead character, Dr. Jane Wallace, is the Forensic Pathologist for western Colorado, unable to forgive, let alone have any mercy for the murderer of her own husband. To handle Continue reading

Seven Stories for Christmas Book Review

Seven Stories

Christmas Gift Idea

Christmas stories add to the joy of the Christmas season, and Seven Stories for Christmas by Henry von Blumenthal, provides a wonderful take on the birth and life of Jesus from St. Luke’s perspective. Mr. von Blumenthal takes us back in time, to when St. Luke was doing his research for, what we today call, the Gospel according to St. Luke. In his research, Luke, known as Dr. Lucan, first visited with Mary to learn what Jesus was like as a child. He then met up with Zacchaeus, the tax collector to hear his story of what Continue reading

Little Lamb Finds Christmas – Book Review

Little Lamb Finds Christmas

Christmas is on its way, whether you are ready for it or not! What better way to get your Christmas shopping started than with the purchase of a beautifully illustrated book about the very first Christmas morning of Christ’s birth! This lovely story, written by Catherine C. Gilmore, presents the morning of Christ’s birth from the animals point of view, that of a lamb, but also of a lion. The lamb represents the young and weak of society, and the lion represents the strong and mature; where both come together and recognize the babe as their King and true leader. Continue reading
