If I have learned anything during this past year, it is that the mercy of Christ is limitless and flows like an ocean. Christ’s mercy abounds; filled with love and compassion. Now that this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy has come to a close, I also realize how accessible Christ’s mercy remains. Christ’s door to mercy never closes!
Jesus waits patiently for each of us to face up to our sins; to come back to Him, through the sacrament of Reconciliation. Therefore, it is in the confessional that Christ forgives us our sins and graces us with His mercy. Although, we enter feeling shamed, we exit feeling joyous!
As we approach the season of Advent, a time of repenting, preparation and joy, take some time to reflect on this past Year of Mercy. Can you see how God was at work in your life? Do you recognize the blessings that flow from His font of mercy?
Mercy of Christ in My Life
I can see His presence, grace and blessings evident in my life. For me, after having studied Christ’s mercy in-depth over the past year, I now have an insatiable thirst for it, more so than ever before. You see, the more that you learn about the mercy of Christ, the more you come to realize how much you need it. And then when you recognize that you received it, the more grateful you become.
I am so grateful to Pope Francis for ushering in this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. Because of his astuteness as to what his flock needed, I now feel closer to Christ. I will use this Advent season well, by seeking the sacrament of Reconciliation. Going forward, I will forever seek the mercy of Christ with an insatiable thirst.
